Week without walls (7 Days)

 

Day 01

Arrival and transfer to a Hotel in Negombo. Negombo is the nearest tourist resort to the air port. Here majority are catholic and other community also live side by side. Also known as “little Rome” Main industries are fishing and tourism. There are many hotels and restaurants around the resort. (30 min drive from the air port). After noon Boat River Excursion (Optional).Over night stay at Negombo.

Day 02

Proceed to Giritale. On the way, visit Dabulla Rock cave Temple (This Buddhist temple’s history goes back to 1st century BC and situated top of a rock. It has five large caves with more than 150 Buddhist statues and colorful paintings).Afternoon Elephant Riding (Optional) in Habarana. Over night stay at Giritale.

Day 03

After Breakfast Visit the Pollonnaruwa (second historical city of Sri Lanka. This city was ruled by some Sri Lankan kings about 200 years 11th- 13th century AD. Rock carvings, historical ruin temples and Stupa displays glory days of Sri Lankan History. Visit the sites by bicycles (Bikes are use in the cultural city only). Afternoon (Optional) Jeep Safari to a nearest National park.Over night stay at Sigiriya.

Day 04

After Break fast climb Sigiriya Rock. The magnificent rock 200 meters high and breath taking view from the summit. History goes back to 5th century AD the king Kashaypa build his palace complex on the rock. Beautiful frescos, mirror wall, lion Paw and decorated caves are worth to see. Proceed to Kandy. On the way visit a Spice Garden. Late afternoon visit the Cultural show and Tooth Relic Temple.Over night stay at Kandy.

Day 05

After break fast Visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Tea Factory and proceed to Nuwaraeliya. Nuwaraeliya situated more than 2000 meter above sea level. And it is known as “Little England”. One of the coldest cities in Sri Lanka surrounded by beautiful mountain and lush green forest and tea estates.Over night stay at Nuwaraeliya.

Day 06 & 07

After breakfast proceed to Beach Resort Benthota. Benthota is a famous tourist resort area in southern costal region. There are many hotel and restaurants on this coastal belt. On the way to Benthota, you will be able to see Water falls, breathtaking mountain sceneries, Tea plantation, etc. Lunch at famous Kitulgala Rest House near to Kelaniya River. “The Bridge on river Quwai” film was filmed here 1956 and white water rafting possible before lunch. Over night stay at Benthota.
